Music Monday (#4) Tears of an Angel by RyanDan

"It can't be true, that I'm losing you. The sun cannot fall from the sky. Can you hear heaven cry?"

I picked out a song and a video to post last night. I have had the intention to post it all day, but for some reason I haven't. I now know why.

I was on YouTube just a moment ago, trying to find the right song to help set to mood for a scene I was writing. Glad to say, I was successful, and I love the song so much I just HAD to post it. Not only does it fit with the scene I'm working on, it fits with a certain part of my book. I think I have decided it will be on the soundtrack when I make it. Tell me what you think!

Now introducing "Tears of an Angel" by RyanDan

Do you have any sorrowful songs that help you set the mood for your heart-wrenching scenes when you write? I'd love to know; I'm always on the look out for inspiration :D

Music Monday (#3)

"Let's go back, back to the beginning. Back to when the earth, the sun, the stars all aligned. Cause perfect didn't feel so perfect. Trying to fit a square into a circle was no life. I defy."

For those of you who don't recognize those lyrics, they are from Hilary Duff's "Come Clean." That's who this week's Music Monday feature is all about. She was one of the first stars that I worshiped as a kid--worshiped being an exaggeration, of course. I only watched all the episodes of Lizzie McGuire whenever they were on, loved Casper Meets Wendy, bought Lizzie McGuire books and the movie, listened to her music 24/7, watched her music videos, tour DVDs, and other movies.

See. "Worship" is only an exaggeration ;)

I really believe Hilary is very talented. She is an amazing actress, great singer, all I need to do now is read her book--her debut young adult novel, "Elixir" co-written with Elise Allen.

Elixir book jacket--I think this picture of her is absolutely gorgeous!
Clea Raymond has felt the glare of the spotlight her entire life. The daughter of a renowned surgeon and a prominent Washington DC politician, she has grown to be a talented photojournalist who takes refuge in a career that allows her to travel to the most exotic parts of the world. But after Clea’s father disappears while on a humanitarian mission, Clea’s photos begin to feature eerie, shadowy images of a strange and beautiful man—a man she has never seen before.

When fate brings Clea and this man together, she is stunned by the immediate and powerful connection she feels with him. As they grow closer, they are drawn deep into the mystery behind her father’s disappearance, and they discover the centuries old truth behind their intense bond. Torn by a dangerous love triangle and haunted by a powerful secret that holds their fates, together they race against time to unravel their pasts in order to save their lives—and their futures.

Music Monday (#2)--Double Feature

This week I couldn't help but share two artists that have deeply inspired me this past week. The first is a music video by British artist Ellie Goulding. I absolutely love this song, "Starry Eyed"--and the video! And just as a random statement, her facial features remind me of a younger J. K. Rowling, but that's probably just me (lol).

And for artist number two: Within Temptation

This band helped inspire me for my current novel long ago, and listening to them again helped rekindle that inspiration. Here are a few of my favorite songs that will be listed on Angel Wing's soundtrack--or if they're not on that soundtrack, they will be featured on one of the books in the trilogy.

Songs: "Our Solemn Hour," "The Howling," "What Have You Done," and "Angels"

The first song listed really feels to me like it should be a representation of the whole trilogy, due to what the song is about which is war. The second song listed is in second place for trilogy representation, though (lol).  Oh, and in this first song, "Sanctus Espiritus" is Latin for Holy Spirit--or so I'm told.

Are there any songs that have inspired you this week, or any that have simply rocked your socks off?

Music Monday (#1)

Since music plays such an important part in my writing, I've decided to have a feature called Music Monday where I will post a song--or like today when I will feature multiple songs from an artist--that have inspired me in the past week or I just think are awesome.

So for Monday number one, the first person to make the list is the classic, rock and roll queen Joan Jett. I've been listening to her music all week, so much that it inspired a story--and possibly even a book. A few of my favorite songs by her are, of course, I Love Rock and Roll; Bad Reputation; I Hate Myself For Loving You; and Cherry Bomb.

Last year there was a movie made about Joan Jett's first band, the movie titled the same as the band, The Runaways, starring Kristin Stewart and Dakota Fanning. Here's the trailer.

Music Is My Inspiration

Or at least it's one of them.

98% of the time when I'm writing--or even when I'm not writing--I'm listening to music. So I thought for fun, I would post some music videos and songs that I've been obsessed with for a while. I hope you enjoy! If you know any good songs, feel free to suggest. I'd certainly love to know--no links though, please.

First off "The Pretender" by Cherri Bomb     (Love the band name!)

"Love You Like A Love Song" by Selena Gomez

"Make Me Wanna Die" by The Pretty Reckless  (Can you believe the lead singer is the girl who played Cindy Lou Hoo in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" Jim Carrey version? She's all grown up.)

Demi Lovato's new song "Skyscraper" (Go Demi!)

And to throw in some male vocals, here is Hot Chelle Rae with the song "Tonight, Tonight"
